Know the Differences Between Portrait and Fashion Photography
By Olav Kenneth Linge From PPA, Storytellers, October 1998 |
|
This image illustrates how a photographer can "neutralize" the model's face and limbs to make the clothing the primary focus of the scene. Here she is standing on a beach; the face has been exposed to virtually "disappear" into the background. This chrome image is overexposed to emphasize the details in the black dress and the sheerness of the fabric. This overexposed effect is widely used in fashion photography.
